![]() ![]() The problem with determining a "best" defense, is that it relies to heavily on your opponent's attack forces. So even if it goes 1v1 from that point onward you have a high chance of not getting defeated. The ranged units usually get in range in two moves (given the attacking opponent uses a defensive strategy, while the seige gets in range almost pronto (and taking shots instantly), so the opponent may have lost 1 or 2 units (atleast badly damaged) before the archers get in place. So disregarding the bug, i would say a mix of seige (2-3) and ranged (5-6) will likely be enough to scare off most people, or atleast hurt them a lot, even if they come in with full cavalry (though slightly depending on the terrain). Seige units, while i think there is currently still a bug with them, have the added advantage of ultra-range. Melee units basically do the same, but the benefit of them can be that they move at the same pace as ranged units, still though if the terrain suits the attacker they can be thunneled in and picked off one by one. if you mix them in with other units, the 2 or 3 mounted units will rush ahead and thus a waiting strategy can pick them off before any of the other units can help (though some archers can become a bit of a hassle if the terrain suits them). So from that i would say that mounted units are not a great scare tactic, esp. ![]() all units move if they can (though not entirely sure on seige) the units go for the units they are strongest against, if they canģ. the units take the route of least resistanceĢ. ![]() Best advice i can give is to look at the behavior of the AI when you attack other players or even PvE conquest, and take the best of those.ġ. ![]()
